| Tigercat Plans for New Market Realities |
|
PARIS ON, JANUARY 19, 2010 – Tigercat plans to reduce excess manufacturing capacity and overhead by listing for sale two of six facilities the company owns and operates in Brantford, Paris, Woodstock and Cambridge, Ontario. The divestment of these smaller facilities and the resulting consolidation will not only increase Tigercat's competitiveness in a very trying forestry equipment market, but also put disparate engineering and production functions together, for increased efficiencies and better ability to share resources. As part of this transition, wheel feller buncher and mulcher assembly is currently being moved from Morton Ave in Brantford to Savage Drive in Cambridge. This will consolidate all rubber tire vehicle engineering and assembly under one roof. These measures are part of a larger multi-pronged effort to streamline operations and reduce manufacturing costs. Other measures include various LEAN manufacturing initiatives. In the context of reduced worldwide demand for forestry equipment, the reduction in overhead will more closely match future demand to Tigercat's manufacturing capacity, positioning the company more favourably for the near term as well longer term market realities.
