The new Tigercat 720D with hydrostatically driven cross-flow cooling, replaces the "C" series machine in a drive for further improvements in productivity and longevity.

PARIS, ON, October 11, 2001 – The first of the new 720D series drive-to-tree feller bunchers will be entering the woods in October with the unique cross-flow cooling system first introduced on Tigercat skidders and later adapted to the 724D feller buncher.

Tigercat is turning to hydrostatically driven cooling fan systems across a number of product lines. The operator is able to purge the heat exchangers without exiting the cab, resulting in less debris build-up. The positioning of the coolers improves cooling capacity compared with standard arrangements because cool air is blown directly over the coolers without obstruction. This translates to higher production and longer component life.

Engine options include 174 hp Cummins 6BTA5.9 and 185 hp John Deere 6068T. Tigercat’s single range transfer case, first introduced on the 720C, will remain. The no-shift transmission enables the operator to achieve higher wheel speed in favourable harvesting conditions without sacrificing tractive effort if difficult terrain is suddenly encountered.

The angled engine enclosure profile, high visibility rear quarter cab windows and tight turning radius contribute to high performance in thinning applications. Ample power and excellent stability allow the 720D to outperform in final felling as well – an excellent choice for loggers requiring versatility.
