Tigercat adds to loader line with new 220 model
PARIS, ON, September 15, 2003 - This past summer, Tigercat released
its first run of 220 series loaders. The 220 is well suited to short wood and tree-length
loading.
Powered by a Cummins QSB5.9 Tier II engine, the 220 also has optional
delimber and slasher hydraulics and handles light duty
delimbing such as in pine plantation first and second thinning applications.
According to loader product manger Kevin Keats, "The 220 complements the
loader product offering by giving the logger a small loader that can be mounted
on a truck or trailer."
With a simple, clean design, the 220 has a well-proven open-center hydraulic
system and is light enough to be easily maneuvered around the deck. Jeff Dunham, sales representative for Tigercat dealer Cotton-Hutcheson in
Alabama comments that in his geographic area "there is a big demand for a
lighter loader that can be easily moved by a smaller skidder. The 220 fits into
that category."
The 220 boom is designed for durability and long life with large diameter
pins throughout and extra reinforcement where required to optimize strength to
weight ratio. The fabricated subframe is stable and rigid. The heavy duty
swing bearing is
47 in. (1,190 mm) in diameter and will provide long, trouble-free life.
Stand-out 220 benefits and advantages include a luxury operator's station,
excellent access to the pumps and filters through large swing-out doors and platform access
to the valves and engine. Keats comments, "Superior serviceability is a
goal that has been met in the development of this product."
The operator's station is large, quiet and comfortable and at the top of its
class with full climate control, isolation mounting and excellent visibility.
