Tigercat develops new knuckleboom loader model
The new Tigercat 234 loader with load sensing hydraulics performs beyond
expectations during initial field testing.
PARIS ON, JULY 6, 2006 – Tigercat has developed a new loader model
designated as the 234. At its heart is an advanced load sensing hydraulic system and a
closed loop hydrostatic swing drive.
The dedicated closed loop swing system will contribute to improved fuel
efficiency because the machine recovers energy as the swing coasts to a
stop. Early field observations have confirmed spectacular fuel efficiency numbers
and very low operating temperatures even in the high ambient temperatures of the
southeastern United States summer.
The 234 boasts an oversize swing drive gearbox and a bearing and that is
common to all Tigercat swing machines. The 234 is equipped with a 32 ft. boom set
achieving 32,500 lb lift capacity at
11 foot reach. With fast boom cycles and powerful swing torque, the machine is
designed to achieve high production in challenging delimbing and loading
applications.
There are no valves awkwardly located
under the cab. Instead, like all Tigercat loaders, the valves are easily accessible underneath the walk-up
platform beside the cab. The engine
is mounted high in the frame for better access through large front and rear doors.
The operator's cab is constructed with thick steel plate. Inside the cab is
a quiet, spacious and well finished work environment with tinted window and
excellent visibility.
