Tigercat releases M726D mulcher
The new Tigercat M726D mulcher complements the larger
M760 mulcher. It is well suited for right-of-way and commercial land clearing
applications.
PARIS, ON, FEBRUARY 4, 2005 – In November, 2004
Tigercat shipped its first M726D mulcher. This much anticipated product will
complement the larger M760 mulcher. Both machines are designed to propel
horizontal drum mulching attachments.
The Cummins QSC8.3 Tier II engine develops 245 hp at 1,800 rpm. The machine
will mulch standing trees, brush and blow-down and is well suited to commercial
land clearing and right-of-way applications.
The rear of the M726D is neatly divided into three
separate compartments. The first houses Tigercat’s cross-flow cooling system.
The automatic variable speed hydraulic fan reverses manually or on a
pre-set timer to clear debris from the coolers.
The second compartment houses the Tier II Cummins QSC8.3 electronic engine. The engine air intake has its own
compartment and is separated from the engine compartment.
The rearmost compartment houses the hydraulic pumps and filters, keeping the
hydraulic components separated from the engine
compartment.
The M726D is smaller, lighter and more maneuverable than the 425 hp Tigercat
M760. The tight turn radius will allow the M726D to excel in residential
development applications where the operator must carefully work around
standing trees and other obstacles.
According to wheel feller buncher product manager Rob Pentesco, the goal is
to make the flagship 726 model a multi-purpose carrier that will provide
Tigercat with a crossover machine capable of working in the forestry,
construction and public works sectors. "With this latest D-series redesign,
the machine will be suited to a variety of applications most of which require
higher horsepower to drive the attachment," says Pentesco.
Like the D-series feller bunchers, the M726D mulcher is available with either the 2-speed
transmission or wide-range infinitely variable transmission.
