Tigercat debuts in Russia
Tigercat exhibits at The Interles – 2001 and appoints VKran Russia as new
Tigercat-Hemek distributor.
St Petersburg, Russia, November 5, 2001 – In
line with Tigercat’s continued strategy to diversify into different forestry
markets, the company made its first moves into the Russian Federation.
Potentially the largest wood supplying market in the world, Russian logging
conditions and requirements are virtually identical to that of Canada. Sharing
similar terrain, climate and trees, it was only a matter of time before Tigercat
made an official entry into this market.
The Interles – 2001 Forestry and Woodworking show held every year in the
city of St. Petersburg proved to be the perfect opportunity. The show consisted
of a static exhibition in the city and a live demonstration in the forests, 60
km towards Finland. The traditional harvesting system in this area is
cut-to-length while the few tree-length systems that do exist, use motor-manual
and cable skidder equipment.
Tigercat demonstrated the Hemek F700 (14 tonne class) in cooperation with its
newly appointed dealer for the area VKran Russia. The demonstrations over the 5
days attracted much interest while the Tigercat 2001 Product Range video showing
the conventional North American tree-length system proved to be a show stopper
at the city exhibit. The promotion of the Tigercat brand name was most
successful with people as far a Siberia and even Eastern Russia making the
" pilgrimage" to look for new ideas at Interles – 2001.
Tigercat’s debut success was immediately recognized by the organizers
through an award for the best contribution by an equipment manufacturer. With
plenty of interest and increasing logging activity in the Russian Federation,
Tigercat can look forward sharing its North American experience and technology
in providing the solutions to the logging challenges.
