Temporary Production Suspension
The people at Tigercat are working diligently to respond to the extremely challenging business environment that COVID-19 has brought us. It is a difficult job to balance many responsibilities and competing demands.
First and foremost is the health and wellbeing of Tigercat team members and their families. Tigercat also has a responsibility that we all take very seriously – to serve the needs of our end user customers and dealer network. Not only have you entrusted us as business partners but the vast majority of you are part of the forestry industry. Your efforts may supply raw material for packaging and various cellulose-based products that will ultimately contribute to COVID-19 mitigation and containment efforts.
Another important consideration however, is Tigercat’s responsibility to public health, the protection of public healthcare systems throughout the world, and protection of the most vulnerable in society. We must do our part in contributing to a ‘flattening of the curve’ so as to not overwhelm healthcare systems as we have already seen in other parts of the world.
As such, Tigercat has made the difficult decision to suspend regular production operations, effective March 24, 2020. The return-to-work date is tentatively planned for April 13, 2020. As related to health, societal and economic effects, COVID-19 is a moving target. That said, we are confident that with ingenuity and teamwork, we will overcome the associated challenges and get our people back to work in an environment suited to these new realities. Our focus is on learning and adapting our practices and infrastructure accordingly.
In the meantime, the essential services of parts, parts rebuilding, customer service and engineering support will remain operational in an effort to provide uninterrupted customer support.
During this shutdown period Tigercat will also focus on quality assurance, product improvement and new product development, including the new material processing line that received so much attention at the recent CONEXPO.
In terms of investment for the future, Tigercat is not backing down. While adjustments will be made to capital investment planning, the vision of our owner and CEO, Ken MacDonald, has not changed. When we come out on the other side of this, we will have a wider product offering, increased production capacity and improved internal processes.

As the realities of COVID-19 sink in, the world is now changing on an hourly basis. The people at Tigercat are working diligently to respond to this state of rapid change. The primary goal is to ensure the health and safety of our employees and their families. By creating novel strategies and remaining flexible, we will support our dealer network and enduser customer base to the very best of our abilities. We will continue to design, improve, build and ship machines. And we aim to provide uninterrupted parts and service support.
We have made a number of changes over the last several days in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. All factory tours are cancelled. Until further notice, all out-of-country travel for factory-based staff has been cancelled. You may also experience reduced access to field-based staff members who have been instructed to use best judgment when coordinating travel and visits with dealer network personnel and enduser worksites. Field staff experiencing signs or symptoms of cold or flu will remain home until their symptoms resolve.
Please take care of yourself and your families and do your part to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We are all in this together and we must work together to minimize the negative effects of COVID-19 on the vulnerable, public health, society and the economy.
