Tigercat Scarifiers in Sweden

Tigercat forestry machines well suited to demanding ground scarification applications.

PARIS ON, FEBRUARY 10, 2009 – Swedish scarifying contractors are turning to super-duty Tigercat machines to handle demanding applications in steep and rocky terrain. The 1075B forwarder and 625/635 series six-wheel drive skidders are particularly well suited to the extreme conditions.

The wide-spread 20-tonne bogie axles significantly reduce ground pressure when equipped with tracks and improve performance on steep slopes while reducing the jarring effects of the rocks and stumps for reduced operator fatigue.

Ground scarification is extremely hard on the primemover and considered one of the most demanding forestry applications on account of the near 100% duty cycle. In addition, because the scarifying work is done in a row pattern, the operators have very little leeway in terms of obstacle avoidance. Unlike some equipment manufacturers, Tigercat offers the same warranty for scarifier units as it would for the standard skidder or forwarder.

Tigercat has sold a number of 1075B forwarder based units and E625C skidder based machines in Sweden. Refer to the cover story, Tackling the Tough Stuff in Sweden, Between the Branches, November 2008 for a full feature article.
