Overview

The 6040 carbonizer is an advanced, cost-effective and environmentally appealing wood debris conversion system. The carbonizer transforms woody biomass into a stable, high quality organic carbon product, commonly called biochar, that can be marketed for many beneficial uses. The process reduces feedstock volume by 90% and sequesters 25-30% of total available carbon, removing it from the atmospheric cycle.

Control and Information Systems

Tigercat designed operating system and telematics information system provides a simple, intuitive interface and an excellent operator experience.

Temperature control sensors located throughout the machine monitor for optional carbonizing performance.

Inside the Carbonizing Chamber

Specially formulated thermal-ceramic panels store and utilize the heat energy produced from the carbonizing process to provide equalized and sustained internal temperatures, along with low back-face temperatures. The replaceable panel seal plate design further enhances internal temperature stability and reduces panel wear.

The result is reduced emissions, greater infeed rates, a higher quality organic carbon and increased yield.

Pivoting Conveyor

Integrated bolt-on discharge conveyor with 105 degree swing and 3,65 m (12 ft) clearance for easy handling of organic carbon product output.

The conveyer stows away within the width and height envelope of the machine for convenient road transport.

Carbonizing Process

The 6040 transforms biomass into a durable and valuable carbon-based product called biochar through the processes of controlled pyrolysis, volatile burnout, and carbon stabilization. Feedstock volume is reduced by 90%, while the end product retains 25–30% of the total carbon in the feedstock. The carbon is effectively sequestered for centuries and the product is stable and suited to many soil and environmental applications.
